Threads, Webs and Wonder: connecting Nature, Soil and Community.

2026 Green Shift Festival explores people’s dependence on nature for life, health, sustenance and well-being.  We are all part of the earth’s natural networks - healthy ecosystems sustain us in healthy communities.  Hosted by Sustainable Clevedon and community partners, the Festival extends over ten Spring days across the town with walks, talks, discussions and conversations; art, film, poetry and prose; dance and song – and the chance for everyone to participate and discover how we can reconnect with nature and its wonders.

Invitation to Artists

Green Shift Festival 2026 invites individual artists at any stage in their development to contribute to a collaborative 3D art installation as part of the festival taking place across Clevedon in April 2026. The installation will be a full-room textile web with a mix of small contributed artworks hanging within the web structure.

The installation will be displayed in a ground floor room at the Curzon Cinema, forming a visible artwork that sparks curiosity, conversation and wonder. The room will be open to the public at various times throughout the festival.

We hope the installation will demonstrate the vibrancy of our local art community and the vital contribution of art to important conversations and the wider community.

What we’re looking for

Small pieces of work, that have resonance with the festival’s theme, conveying curiosity, connection and care for the living world.

We would love you to contribute up to three 3D artworks  using recycled, reclaimed, found or natural materials or using low-impact processes, such as:

• sculptural assemblage or textile work

• creations using paper or card

• works created from found or recycled materials

The installation as a whole will:

• celebrate and question fragility and resilience of the natural world

• reflect local identity and pride of place in Clevedon

• align with our sustainable ethos

• inspire the public to engage or respond

The technical stuff

Artworks should be lightweight [no heavier than 200g] and no larger than 50cm  at any point. Any creations, including those on paper and card, can be flat but will need to be able to be viewed from either side [one-sided creations will not be considered].

We will be ‘hanging’ submitted creations within a textile web. Please be aware that they will be tied into place by the curators of the installation. All reasonable care will be taken in fixing by the curators.
