Sustainable Seasons
Our activities throughout the year use the different seasons to help the community in Clevedon live more sustainably and in harmony with nature. These are some ideas that guide what we do.
Autumn
As the leaves change colour, autumn is an excellent time to prepare your home and lifestyle for the colder months ahead while maintaining sustainability:
• Composting: Collect fallen leaves and garden waste to create compost for enriching your soil. Composting helps reduce landfill waste and provides nutrients to your garden.
• Energy Efficiency: Prepare your home for winter by sealing drafts, adding insulation, and using energy-efficient appliances to reduce heating costs and energy consumption.
• Mindful Consumption: With the Christmas holiday season approaching, be conscious of your purchasing habits. Choose sustainable, ethically-produced gifts and decorations and shop locally.
• Preserve Food: Preserve or freeze excess fruits and vegetables from your garden or local markets. This reduces waste and ensures you have access to local produce year-round.
By making small, mindful changes throughout the year, we can collectively make a significant impact on our environment. Each season presents unique opportunities to embrace sustainable living, support nature, and reduce our carbon footprints. Let's pledge to make every season a step towards a greener, healthier planet.
